Miracle Baby

Wow it's been awhile since I've updated my posts. I've been extremely busy getting ready for baby. As you all know I was extremely miserable and I broke out in a pregnancy rash called PUPPS (not fun!!!), and then I sprained my ankle which caused my left foot to swell up pretty good. We had a good and relaxing Easter and then things started to happen.

On Monday March 24th I started making my baby's blanket and had to get it done by the end of the week. I spent all day cutting out the squares for his rag quilt and went to bed at 11:30 pm. I went to bed and at 2:30 Tuesday morning (March 25) I woke up freaking out because I couldn't remember my baby move at all on Monday. I kept waking up throughout that morning with contractions and I just had a weird feeling. When Brandon woke up I told him that I was going to call the doctor cause I couldn't remember if the baby moved yesterday (Monday) and he hasn't moved today. So after taking Mariah to dance I decided to go to the gym and walk on the treadmill, still no baby move. I stopped by the gas station and got a chocolate doughnut and a Dr. Pepper and would drink the pepper after I got home. I picked Mariah up from dance and called the doctor. I told them that I was 37 weeks and I haven't felt my baby move. They told me to come in at 1:30 it was 11:15 when I called. I get home, get the girls lunch and drink my peppper and laid downed no baby movement. I had this sick feeling in my stomach and I was getting really scared. I drop the girls off at my friend Silene's house and head to my appointment. They do a non stress test and I heard the baby's heart beat but then all of a sudden his heart rate dropped down to the mid 80's and I got really scared. I didn't know what to do and it went back up. After an hour or so the nurse comes back rips the paper off and takes it to the midwife. The nurse comes back and tells me to go straight to labor and delivery because the midwife didn't like how the heart rate dropped so low at one point. I call Brandon and tell him I'm going over to the hospital and I will meet him there. I get there and they put the monitor on me and again the heart rate dropped when I would get a contraction. The nurse came back and checked me, I was dilated to a 3 and she told me I wasn't going home. The baby's heart rate dropped again and the midwife on call decided to admit me and told me I was having a baby today. I get admitted and to a room and I get my epidural (sorry don't know how to spell that word) and she checks me again and I'm at a 4. They start me on pit and the midwife told me we will try to have this baby vaginally, but if the baby is to stress then we would have to do a c-section. She leaves then comes back in with the doctor on call and he tells me that they don't like how the baby's heart rate is going down with contractions and that they want to do a c-section. I wasn't ok with that but if it meant to get my baby here safe I will do it. I get in the surgery room and they prep me. The epidural wasn't working so they had to put me to sleep. They next thing I know I hear the doctor's trying to wake me up and I'm in my room but no baby. I can hear Brandon in the background making calls and he sounded really sad. My baby came out of me white as white can be and he was in cardiac arrest. There was a respiratory therapist in the room and he performed CPR and order to get a blood transfusion for my baby. My baby came out very anemic and had no blood in him. The therapist was able to revive my baby but he had to be transported to Provo to the NICU. I got to see my baby before they transported him. It was really hard because I wasn't able to hold him, touch him, or feed him. I got out of the hospital on Thursday March 27th and went straight over to Provo to see him. He was looking good. He was taken off his ventilator but still had his tube to feed. I got to hold him and change his diaper and help take him a sponge bath. We go see him everyday twice a day and I pump my milk so they can feed him through his tube. He's a strong little one and so cute. We decide to name him Brock Brandon Godfrey. He won't be coming home for a couple of weeks but that's fine with me because I just want to make sure he will be ok when he comes. I will let you know how Brock does. Here are a couple of pictures of him.
