Goodbye old friend

So I've finally decided to pull the plug from Brock, this time for good! I had intended to take it away at 18 months but I didn't appreciate him waking up in the middle of the night crying. I then gave in and gave him his little buddy. So on Thursday I decided that I need to take it away from him because how is he suppose to talk if he has an object in his mouth all the time. He hadn't had it all day and bedtime was approaching and I came up with a solution so that he would sleep all night, benadryl. Yup, that's right I drugged my child so that he would sleep and not think about his "bee". It worked! He did wake up at 6 a.m. this next morning but hey it worked. The second day without his "bee" went smooth. I laid him down for his nap, with no benadryl, and no problems what so ever. He does ask for his "bee" but I just ignore him. I know it sounds mean but I figured I would try to take it away cold turkey and if that didn't work snip it. My other 2 I had no problems taking the pacifier away. Jazmin would bite the tip of it and didn't want to suck it anymore. So when she didn't want them anymore I stopped buying them. Mariah only had the pacifier for 3 months and she was done. Brock, well I made him take it. He didn't want anything to do with it but I wanted him to have it. It makes life so much easier if he is fussing to just stick the plug in. I am now on my 3rd day of no "bee" and it's going ok. He hasn't wanted to take a nap and he still asks for it but not as much. I just want him to talk a little more. I've noticed that since I've taken it away he has said a few more words. It's a little frustrating when I don't know what he wants and he is throwing a fit, sooo I'm hoping this will help him want to communicate with me a little more. We will see though.
