I took Brock to his 1 year check up yesterday and the kid is freakin tall!. He is 33 inches which puts him in the 99.5% for his age! When I took him for his 9 month check up he was 31 inches. I have noticed that he is growing 2 inches every 3 months. Brandon is figuring Brock will be 6'7, I think that is what he told me. I can't believe how tall he is, well yes I can because his pants are floods on him. I have the hardest time getting pants for Brock, because he is so tall pants fit him good length wise but waist wise no too big. It will be interesting how tall he gets from now till he hits 18 months we will see. I see a little NBA all star on our hands if he likes to play sports when he gets older.
This morning Brandon left to the airport to head off to Vegas for some conference for work. I am so jealous because he gets to go to nice beautiful weather and I'm stuck here in cold weather. Seriously, we had such beautiful weather all last week, Jazmin got sunburned on Friday, and we get the crappy cold weather this week. I wish I were going with Brandon but Jazmin has a competition tomorrow in Spanish Fork so I'm taking her to that. Lets see how this goes tomorrow because I'm by myself with 3 kids, one of them doesn't hold still for nothing (Brock). I think by the end of week I might be ready to die. I'm sure it won't be that bad but it's so hard to take Brock places because he wants to get into everything and just be on the go. I don't mind taking Mariah because she will just watch the dancers in awe. She's my little dancer even though she gives me a hard time when it comes to taking her to dance. I hope Brandon has a good time in Vegas and when he comes back I need a night out and he can watch the kids. Does that sound fair?

I love my husband!
I also wanted to mention how much I love my husband! He is the best, understanding, and patient (with me). I want to let him know how much I appreciate all he does and how much I appreciated how much time he spent with me and Brock while we were in the hospital. I don't know how he was so strong in that whole ordeal but he was amazing. He took so much care of me when I was home and he was there to dry my tears. I will miss you this weekend and I can't wait for Hawaii! Thank you and I love you!
Happy Birthday Brock
I can't believe my baby boy is 1 today! Time sure does fly bye so fast, but I have been so grateful that it has been a good year for us (considering Brock's start in life). I'm sorry this may be a long post but it's good to remember things that happen in life at times and thank heavenly father for bringing this baby boy in our lives. I was so afraid to have another baby because Mariah was so attached to me but the minute I found out I was pregnant she let go. It was a miserable pregnancy for me; I gained tonz of weight fast, I had acid reflux, I was felt nauseated all day, I broke out in PUPS (that totally sucked), and I had to have an emergency c-section. I was so scared when I stopped feeling Brock move and when I was told to go to labor and delivery I got excited because I was going to have this baby early. I remember my doctor, who happened to be a midwife, telling me we can go ahead and move forward with a vaginally delivery but then when I saw the doctor I knew it wasn't going to be good news. The mention of the word c-section scared me to death because I have never every had surgery in my life and I didn't want to have one now! I was ok with it because I wanted my baby to be ok. I remember I was so scared and my lips just quivering as I arrived in the OR. I started to get scared when they pinched me to see if I was numb and when I could feel the pinches it didn't sound good. The doctor gave me some more of the epidural but I still could feel stuff. I remember the doctor saying we need to hurry and they put me to sleep and I don't remember anything after that. I remember waking up crying because it hurt so bad and nurses all in my room but I didn't have my baby. Brandon was in the room making phone calls and I can't remember if he told me about Brock or if it was the nurse. They were getting ready to transport him to Utah Valley Hospital in the NICU at Provo. I was in so much pain and then they brought my baby boy out in this:
It was so hard not being able to see my baby for 3 days and we were in different hospitals. I felt bad for Brandon because he went everyday to both hospitals to visit me and Brock and I am pretty sure he was a mess. The girls went home with Brandon's parents so that they wouldn't have to stay all day in the hospital. I was really shocked that my mom and dad drove all the way from Brigham to American Fork and Provo to see me and my baby and turned around that same night to go back to work the next day. My in laws also came down and Vickie stayed in the hospital with me while Brandon took his dad to Provo to see Brock.
I couldn't believe how together I was while I was in the hospital recovering. I didn't bawl my eyes out I was ok until I was released and was home but no baby. I was in the hospital for 3 days but I came home empty handed. I took it really hard when I got home, I cried and cried. I cried every time we would come home from the NICU because it was sad to see the tiny babies there and not at home with mom and dad, and my baby boy was one of them, but he was the biggest baby in there so that was somewhat on a happier note. It was sad to hear that had to do an MRI and sedated him, it was sad to hear about them finding a small spot on his brain, it was sad to hear whenever he would come back down after doing so good. I couldn't take it anymore. We prayed for Brock and he got a blessing, and the good thing after the blessing he started to do a lot better. We got the call saying he could come home if he was able to nurse without the oxygen. I was told I had to stay overnight at the hospital and nurse him and if he gained weight he was good to go. I stayed overnight but it wasn't good for me at least. I started to get sick again. I was fighting an infection and I had gotten an antibiotic for it but it wasn't working. I was suppose to be readmitted in the hospital but the doctor wanted to go the antibiotic route because he knew my baby was still in the NICU. I had the chills and I was so tired. I didn't want to tell anyone because I wanted my baby to come home and be home when he came home. It was Friday and he was released 10 days after he was born. I got home and was so weak I ended up going back to the hospital and get reopened up and was in there for another 3 days! It was a rough experience for us. I was grateful for all my friends and neighbors that came by to see me in the hospital. Brock has been nothing but a pure miracle and blessing to us and I am so glad that he is here. I love how my girls love him to death, especially Jazmin. He had the cutest personality and I just want to hug him everyday and never let go of him. We love you Brock and hope you had a happy birthday and many more to come. Love you tonz!

Birthday Party
This weekend we had Brock's birthday party for our family at my mom's house, and it went really well. I was happy that the weather cooperated and we were able to have it in my mom's backyard. The sun did pop in and out and there was a slight breeze but it wasn't cold. I was so proud of my little Brock because he wasn't grumpy! I was getting a little nervous that he would because he really didn't nap too long but he was good. He totally loved his little tot power wheel car that we got him. He would sit in it and we would push him around and he would make his little vroom (car noise) sound. I will post pictures up soon. I was pumped that he got tonz of clothes because he needed some. The kid is outgrowing his pants. He is all set for summer and spring now. It's always nice when you receive clothes because you don't have to buy them and get mad when they don't fit in a month or so.

Off The Wagon
I have fallin off the wagon, the working out wagon that is. I have gone 1 to the gym this week, once!! I have totally been chowing down on food like no other! My cookies n cream milkshake yesterday for lunch tasted soooo good. Brandon told me I deserve it because of my race last week but Hawaii is coming up soon and I want to make sure that I am still going to fit in my swimsuits and clothes, sooo it's back to the gym starting on Monday. I do have to admit it was nice taking a break from working out though.
On another note I can't believe it was one year ago this weekend when our lives totally turned around. This time last year was Easter (it was cold I can remember that), I had my weekly doctor's appointment (it would be my last), and it would be the last time I felt Brock moving around.

Preparing Myself
I went to the doctor today for Brock, surprise, surprise, and the kid has yet another ear infection. This is his 4th ear infection since Feb. The doctor told me 5 or 6 is tubes in his ears. I'm thinking we are probably doing tubes in his ears. I just don't want him to get an ear infection while we are in Hawaii. SOO I think I am just going to call the ear nose throat doctor and make an appointment for a consultation. The only thing I am having troubles is Brock is not taking his antibiotic. He hates it and I even asked the pharmacist to put flavoring in it and he can still tell what it is. I decided I will put it in is formula nope he could tell. I don't know how I am going to get it down him. I gave him 1/2 tsp and he threw up. Lil stinker. I think I will opt for the 3 series of shots they can give him that his harsh but it will do the trick.
Finished!
As you all know I had my big 10K race in St. George last Saturday and it went great! I ran the whole time, only stopping for water, and right back to running. I had to admit I was a little nervous and I wasn't sure if I was able to run the whole thing. I didn't want to walk because if I did I would be disappointed in myself but I ran! I finished the race in under an hour! My friend and I finished in 58 mins and 25 secs. We did awesome! The morning of the race was a little bit cold and I usually run in a tank top at the gym because I get hot. I had a sleeveless shirt to run in but I went outside and it was freakin cold. It was a good thing that I packed my Utah Jazz t-shirt so I put that on. I met my friend at the finish line and we had to take a bus to the start of the line. We take this ride and the bus stops at the starting line and I didn't want to get out of the warm cozy bus because we had 30 minutes till the race began. We got off and I decided I better go to the bathroom again. My friend and I did a little jog and stretched and I couldn't believe how many people were there, 300-400 people. I was amazed by the mix of racers: young, old, teens, children, etc. The minute the race started we were off but at our pace. It was amazing to see all these people start running full speed but I knew we would eventually pass them. I'm glad I had my friend there because it made the time go so fast. We talked and just pushed each other. The only killer part of the race was the last mile because it was freakin up hill. Who does that to runners on the last mile? I was so tired and I just wanted to walk but we kept on going. We passed a lot of people that were ahead of us so we knew we were doing good. My goal was to finish the race and my friend's goal was to finish in an hour and we did. I got to 6 miles and I picked up the pace and then I saw the balloons and I sprinted as fast as I could. I saw Brandon, Jazmin, Mariah, and Brock cheering me on and I wanted to give Jazmin high five but I wanted to finish the race. It was such a neat experience and I think I even impressed my husband with the athleticism skills that I had going on. I would post pictures up but they are ugly. I am glad Brandon took them but I honestly look like I am dying trying to cross that finish line. Brandon told me when the first 10 runners crossed the line Jazmin said "Mom is slow." The first person finished in 40 mins. I think I am hooked because now I want to run another race in May or June. I'm not sure if I'm up to running a half marathon but we will see. I can't believe I said that, wow.
