Feeling the Burn (Tuesday)

After being in the sun and water the majority of the day when noticed that we were a little burned. We didn't think that it was too bad but the next day, ouch. I slathered on Aloe Vera Monday night and again Tuesday. My shoulders, arms, and the back of my calves, and face were burned. I even applied sunblock before kayaking and after snorkeling and still got burned. I didn't think to put sunblock on my arms or legs but still. Brandon, who said he was the fairest one of all, applied sunblock big time and he got burned along with Silene. Tobey got burned but not as bad as the three of us. Brandon didn't want to be in the sun too much on Tuesday. We weren't that bad but it did hurt.

We decided that we were going to go to Hapuna Beach to do some boogie boarding and find some turtles but first we took a little drive to Black Sand Beach. It was the first for Tobey and Silene, they've been to Kona a couple of times, so we had no idea what was in store. All we were told was that it was 15 minutes to go down to the beach and like 45 minutes to go back up. We get there and it is just a straight hike down. It was muddy and very rocky. When we got to the bottom it was gorgeous. It was very cool, temperature wise, and there were tonz of trees. It honestly looked like the mountains back home. It seemed like people go and camp there because there were pits, and there were tonz of rope swings. Brandon and I walked along the beach, I was on a mission to find sea turtles. I guess they sometimes go there, but we didn't see any. After walking around it was time for the hike back. Tobey, being Mr. Speed, was way ahead of us timed how long it took to get back up. It was very humid and I was sweating like a pig but it took Tobey 10 minutes to go up, me and Silene 13 and Brandon 15 minutes. I had a picture of me and Brandon at the top with the scenery in the background but Brandon erased it. As we were going up tonz of people were going down and we told them it was tonz easier coming up. They didn't believe us but it was. After that we head to Hapuna Beach and it was pretty crowded. Me and Brandon go in the water and then we got a little hungry so we went up to get a bite to eat. We bought a coconut from these guys that had tonz in the back of their truck and also tried this yummy fruit called Soursop. After we were done we head back down to the beach and Tobey and Silene saw a turtle. We tried to find him but he was gone. We decided to leave the beach because the waves weren't the best for boogie boarding and it was crowding. As we head back we stop at the Harbor because Brandon wanted to see how much a fishing charter would be and see what they are catching. Well we saw the sign and noticed 5 stars on Marlin and another fish so we thought that meant it was good. Brandon books a fishing charter trip for the following day at 6:30-10:30 a.m., which is fine because we are up at 6 a.m. anyways. We booked it in the morning because we had booked a luau that evening at 5:30. So it worked. We get back and grill up some steaks and enjoy our evening. We seriously would go to bed every night between 8:30-9 p.m. We were pooped by the time evening came. I know we are such party animals.
