Pony Express Days

This past week my little town of Eagle Mountain had Pony Express Days. Every day for a week they have different activities to do, they have a carnival, and a parade. It's kind of like Peach Days, those of you who know what that is will know, but a bit smaller. There was a 5K race on Saturday morning and I was there. Runners had to be there between 6-6:30 a.m., buses arrived at 7, and the race was to start at 7:30 sharp. I arrived and it was so freakin cold! The last couple of days it here had been windy and rainy so I was a little nervous to see if the weather would cooperate during the race. I got my packet and waited inside my car until the buses arrived. Well the buses got lost so they were late. When they arrived we all hopped on and got bused to the start of the race. It wasn't a horrible race because it was downhill so I figure what the heck why not sign up. It was a little chilly at the start point and we had to wait for the last bus to get there but after they fog horn blew I was off. I knew that I would warm up while running so I'm glad that I left my light running jacket in my car. The race started late and I was a little worried that Brandon and the kids would be waiting for me to run by, but I don't think they waited to long. I ended up finishing the race in 26mins30secs. That's what the timer said as I crossed the finish line so I will get the official results in a couple of days. I was pretty proud of myself but I guess it didn't hurt that it was downhill so my time was a little faster than what I normally would run a 5K. After I was done I headed home, got Jazmin's hair down, showered and got Jazmin's dance costume on. She was in the parade and I had a friend come to pick her up so she could take her and her daughter to the start of the parade. It was a pretty busy morning but after I got Jazmin off it was fine. We walked to our spot to watch the parade and sat and chatted with friends. It's so nice that we live by the end of the parade route so I don't have to walk a forever to pick Jazmin up. Jazmin's dance company was at the end of the parade and she looked like she had a blast. She was jumping up and down and cheering it was cute. Mariah opted not to be in the parade because she wanted to catch candy. I take that back she wanted to be in the parade but with her cheer group and I told her they were walking. I don't think Mariah would have done well walking 3 miles. She decided to watch the parade instead. After the parade we set up the water slide and the girls had a blast. My family came down and we had a bbq and played cards. It was a good weekend.

I have signed up for a 10K race this Saturday at Bear Lake and I have also signed up for a 1/2 marathon. Well I have decided to run a 1/2 marathon I still need to sign up for it. I'm a little nervous to run a little over 13 miles but I think I can do it. My friend told me if I can run a 10K then I can run a 1/2 marathon. The marathon is the Provo Bridal Veils Marathon and it's Aug 8th. Soooo running for this marathon will keep me in shape throughout the summer so hopefully I won't get to tired of running, right.

It's going to be a fun summer for us so I will have to make sure I take lots of pictures and post them up.

Oh yea my sister in law had her baby boy Sunday afternoon. She named him Ian and I guess he is a little chunk. He weighted in at 9lbs 5oz and 20 inches long. We will get to see them this weekend.

Congrats on the 5k, that's awesome! And good luck with the 10k and 1/2 marathon...I know you'll do great. That's so cool RaChelle had her baby. She kind of sucks at taking pictures & posting them (just kidding). If you go and see her and Ian, you'll have to snap some pics and post them on your blog so I can see him. I can't believe he weighed over 9lbs...yikes!!

That's awesome! I have never been a long distance runner.

So I was wondering if you guys were coming to OR with Tobey & Silene in July?
