Another Peach Days done and over with. I forgot how much I hate pushing a stroller down Forest Street! I have all the freakin people I have to maneuver through and the stinking cords that are all over the sidewalks and street! Arg. Besides that I had a good Peach Days, short but good. I ran the 10K race and can I tell you that has to be one of the hardest races I have every ran (including my two 1/2 marathons)! First of all why would you want to start a race at 9 a.m. on Peach Days! It's freakin hot! I really don't find the excitement of running down the parade route either. Second reason why it was a hard race for me was Highland. Need I say more. Those of you that are not from Brigham don't know that Highland is a very up and down street. It's like a freakin roller coaster you go up and then you go down. As we (my friend and me) went up cuss words were flying through our heads. Don't worry they didn't come out of our mouths, well some did but not the horrible ones. It was bad and to make matters worse it was windy. So running up a hill with the wind blowing didn't help what so ever! The wind was fine when it was flat or when going down the hills but not going up. By the time we hit main street I wanted to give up. I kept telling my friend not to leave me because I didn't want to run down main street all by myself. We both were dying but we ended up finishing the race before the parade even started, thank goodness! We were both pretty proud of our time and how fast our average pace was. We finished it in 54 mins with an average pace of 8:54. That was pretty good for us considering we were dead tired and we had those hills that killed us. I'm glad I ran that race but I probably won't run the race ever again. The hills killed me and not enough water stations for a race that starts so late. I seriously was dying of thirst and the first water station's water wasn't ever cold!
The kids rode the rides and I was dying of heat. It was so freakin hot and the lines for the rides were sooo long. Grandma bought them tickets (10 each) and that was plenty for them and me. I didn't go to the 10 year reunion but did run into a girl that was on the committee. I told her my reasoning for not attending the 10 year and she said that they made name tags with our senior pictures on them. I was like great I hated my senior picture. I was sporting the mushroom do. So I will attend the next reunion, which will be a 15 or 20. I think she said it would be a 15. We will see though.
Sorry no pictures for this post. Brandon forgot to grab the camera to take pictures during the race and the kids watching the parade. I also forgot the camera when I went back to my mom's to shower so another post with no pictures.
